House K: A Seaside Residence in Caesarea
370 sqm on a 600 sqm lot | Facing the Mediterranean and native dune scape
Situated on a 600-square-meter plot in Caesarea, this private residence overlooks both the Mediterranean Sea and an lush natural landscape of dunes and coastal vegetation. The design embraces the site’s unique character, offering a continuous dialogue between architecture and nature.
The clients, a couple whose adult children have moved out, requested a house that would cater primarily to their daily needs, while still accommodating family visits. The ground floor hosts the main living functions, including an open-plan living room, dining area, and kitchen, all oriented toward the sea to maximize views and natural light.
The upper floor is dedicated entirely to a generous master suite. Both the bedroom and the en-suite bathroom span the full width of the sea-facing façade, offering uninterrupted vistas and a strong sense of privacy and retreat.
In contrast, the lower level is designed for occasional use, containing two guest suites for the couple’s children. These rooms are organized around a sunken courtyard, which is entirely open to the outside and planted with native vegetation. Oriented to the south, the courtyard brings abundant daylight into the basement, creating a bright, inviting atmosphere rarely found on subterranean levels. It also serves as a shared outdoor lounge space that connects the two suites both visually and spatially.
The material palette reflects the home’s coastal context, drawing inspiration from the colors and textures of the nearby beach and dunes. Natural wood, local stone, and soft-toned concrete form a warm and restrained palette that integrates seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. The result is a home that feels grounded in its environment—both quiet and expressive, contemporary yet timeless.
